Thanksgiving Break

Well we made it back to school safe and sound.

Thanksgiving break was very relaxing. I am thankful I got to spend lots of time with my family.

And eat lots of yummy food and just forget about school for a week.

I spent quite a few days with my Grandma sewing.

I got creative and made this....

For my Grandma Mary for Christmas. Shhhh. Don't tell her :)
It's made out of all my Great Grandma's buttons

My Grandma taught me how to make Pumpkin Pie! It was delicious. Trevor wanted me to send him one in the mail.... I think I'll just have to make him one instead.

We had some pretty cold weather this last weekend and even got snow at home. It was nice to snuggle up in front of the fire.

Here are a few pictures from the ride home today.
Everything was covered in snow and it was just a really beautiful day!

Don't worry Oregon.... We'll be back in 12 days!

p.s. My camera was kinda acting up so some of the pictures aren't that great because I took them on my cell phone. Hopefully I'll get it fixed over Christmas Break!

Sleepover.

Mommy and me and had a sleep over last night.

It was just the two of us at home. Camped out on the living room floor in front of the fire.

Watching some tv and cuddling :)

"Oh how sweet the light of day, and how wonderful to live in the sunshine!
Even if you live a long time, don’t take a single day for granted.
Take delight in each light-filled hour; remember that there will also be many dark days.
And that most of what comes your ways is smoke.
You who are young make the most of your youth. Relish in your youthless vigor.
Follow the impulses of your heart. If something looks good to you, pursue it. But know also that not just anything goes; you have to answer to God every last bit of it. Live footloose and fancy-free.
You won’t be young forever."

Twitching Out

This blog post will be using the convience of bullet points because I am currently not interested in writing paragraphs.

Warning: this is going to be a vary random post.

  • I have this bad habit of drinking coffee without eating food. The result: I become jittery. ( I am currently in this state now and dreaming of some great Mexican food to end the jitteryness.)
  • Along with my jitteryness, I also have a twitch in my left back shoulder that is quite annoying.
  • I seem to get a lot of twitches. Anyone know the cause of twitching?
  • Today I planned on writing a lot for my human resource paper. You see, this 8-10 page paper is due on Wednesday. I have only written about 2 pages. Failure. Blogging just seems so much more interesting than writing about the green movement, social networking, Human resource metrics, and privacy and ID theft. Agreed???
  • I dream of they day where school is no longer apart of my life and I can do crafts all day. Or at least after work.
  • I love Etsy. It is the major source of distraction for the day. I keep adding items to my favorites list in hopes of one day being able to create them myself. Right now my current craft obsession? Buttons. I need buttons, in hopes of making some awesome crafts! So if you have any spare buttons you'd like to donate to me, I'd greatly appreciate them!
  • I am in the mood to create countdowns. A countdown till Thanksgiving, Christmas, Europe, and Graduation. You might be seeing some of those real soon.
  • I wish the warm weather would go away. I want to be able to wear scarves, hats, and gloves without sweating and looking like a crazy person. It's the middle of November! The rain and snow need to arrive soon. Please.
  • Today I got to talk to some cute little girls on the phone (pictured in the previous post). One told me they she missed me and loved me :). The other, who has a smaller vocabulary just said, "Hi Katy!" in a very high pitched tone, which sounded a little bit more like HIII KITTY. Pretty much made my day :)
One more week till I get to go home for Thanksgiving break! I hope this week goes by super super super fast!

National Adoption Awareness Month

November is National Adoption Awareness month so I thought it was about time I write a post on Adoption and orphans.

Many of you know that I have a heart for the orphans. The orphans all over the world. I want more than anything for every child in the world to have a family and someone to love them.

My boyfriend's parents have adopted four girls from China. Honestly, I can't imagine my life without them. They are so much apart of me, I feel like their big sister! They have touched  my heart in so many ways, it brings tears to my eyes.

I have had the privilege of being there with the two youngest girls came home. It really is an amazing experience watching them meet their family for the first time and adjusting to this new life. In just a few short months you can really see the difference. It's never an easy process, there are always going to be hard times, but for all the hard times there are moments that just fill your heart with joy knowing that these little children are loved and cared for.

I love playing with the girls and giving them hugs and kisses. I love cuddling with them. I love watching them grow into strong independent girls. They are most definitely a blessing from God.

Most of my friends know I am always talking about when I can adopt one day. I recently found out that you have to be 30 to adopt from China! That's so far away!

I read a lot of adoption blogs. I love reading these blogs that tell the journey of these amazing little children becoming part of a family. One day, I will also be writing about that journey. One day...

For now I've just been sponsoring two little girls from China. One through an orphans wish and the other through Grace & Hope.

I completely understand that adoption isn't for everyone... there are other ways to help the orphans.

(my mom with the girls)
Please consider sponsoring a child or just sending money to a child in need of urgent surgery. There are some many ways to help and so many children in need of your help.

One easy way to help right now is by leaving a comment on this website... Here. All you have to do is leave a comment and they will donate $2. It will literally take less than a couple minutes.

"We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life. But those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by God's very own hands." ---Kristi Larson

So this post will pretty much be Ashley's birthday weekend in Pictures! I'll just narrate the pictures, and there not in order...

 A present from Levi :)

Levi and Ashley!

My parents flew down to California for Ashley's birthday and we spent the weekend at Levi and Trevor's house. It was a great relaxing weekend! We ate lots of good food, shot guns, played poker, and watched some movies. Glad our families could spend the weekend together to celebrate Ashley's birthday!
