Tornado & Car Accident

Not a real great title but I couldn't think of anything else to title this post because yes.... it is about a tornado and a car accident.

On Tuesday, December 14 2010 just before noon a tornado hit down in the town of Aumsville Oregon, just a few miles from my house and the town where my Grandma Mary lives.

I was home alone that morning. I've never seen the hail and rain come down so hard before. I didn't think much of it because the weather in Oregon is always doing something weird.

I jumped in the shower and then about 30 minutes later my Grandma Shirley called me to tell me there was a tornado in Aumsville. The first thing that came to my mind was my Grandma Mary. I frantically called a bunch of people trying to get her number (she just had her number changed and I didn't have it). Finally she called the house to let us know that she was fine, she didn't even hear or see the tornado. It is a miracle that no one was hurt in the tornado. Thank you God for keeping everyone safe.

All day Tuesday the news stations covered the disaster. We didn't go examine the damage that day because from what we could see on the News, everyone and their neighbor went to check out the town.

According to the National Weather Service " tore a path 5 miles long and 150 yards wide, delivering winds estimated at 120 mph"

50-70 structures were damaged and 30 large trees were snapped. The tornado came quite close to my Grandmas house, I'm just so thankful she is alright.

And onto the next topic... the car accident in my front yard.
Yesterday morning around 9 am I woke up to this loud noise. It sounded like my dad had dumped the wheel borrow full of wood down the deck.

Next thing I know I hear my mom screaming at me and Ashley to get up because there was a car accident in our front yard!

So we run up there and Ashley, who had just passed her first EMT class, got to put some of her skills to use!

She took the ladies pulse, asked her questions, and held her neck until the emergency people got there. The lady is alright, she went to the hospital but was sent home last night with pain medication for her neck. She is one lucky lady, God provided us with another miracle!

Here are some pictures I took of the car accident...

Sorry there not in order.
