Black & White Wednesday

We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving, and we all have the power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.” ~ Louisa May Alcott

Playing in the sun...
making wishes on dandelions....
Spending time with those you love...

Senior Recognition

We had senior recognition last weekend.
It was pretty much a teaser.
We walked down in our caps and gowns.
Heard a good speech.
Now we have to wait 115 more days until the real thing.
115 days till I have to grow up and move out into the real world.
I have a feeling it is going to go by WAY TO FAST!

Success
To laugh often and much
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Black & White Wednesday

Last weekend the business club went to Tahoe for a snow trip!

Since I already posted about the trip itself, I'll just dedicate this post to pictures of the trip in Black & White!

This Thursday, the chapel service is dedicated to the Senior class of 2011!
I got my cap and gown today!
So exciting and scary at the same time!

Business Club in Tahoe!

Last weekend the business club went to Tahoe for their annual snow trip!
We rented about five cabins and had around 55 people go.
We've been having some really nice weather here in California, so the snow wasn't that great but it was still lots of fun!

On Friday we all went snowboarding. I was having fun until I got ran over by another snowboarder.
Not fun. I'm still sore!

Allie and I doing our thing on the mountain

On Saturday we relaxed at the cabins.
We played games, went for a walk in search of the lake, and adventured into town for some coffee and a movie!

We also took some pictures because snow is such a great back drop :)

It's sad to think that this is my last year going to Tahoe with the business club :(

Tune in tomorrow for some more pictures of our Tahoe trip in Black & White!

Black & White Wednesday

Last weekend when we went on our Saturday afternoon drive we came across a pretty cool farm.

This farm was decorated with hubcaps. Lots of them.

I wonder where they got all the hubcaps from....

A Happy Saturday

Yesterday was a happy day.

I slept in.
Went to church.
Got coffee at the Roco with friends.
Then went on an adventure with friends!

It was such a beautiful day.

The weather in the Napa Valley has been wonderful lately.
I think it's just teasing us though.
It should not be 70 degrees in the middle of January.

So on with the adventure....

Amanda, Mik, and I got in the car and started driving...
with nowhere in specific in mind.

Just a drive to explore the area.
A Saturday afternoon drive with the windows down and the music playing.
Many of the roads we turned on were dead ends.
Many of the road we drove on were windy.

I like exploring.
Here are some pictures my camera captured of our little adventure :)

I'm am so thankful for great friends to go exploring with.
School will soon be coming to an end and I'm going to miss them.

Black & White Wednesday

I am ready for winter to be over!

I have really been wanting to take pictures lately because I got a new camera lens for Christmas.
But everything outside is dead....
and I have no kids to take pictures of.

I saw these dead flowers and they were just kinda screaming to be photographed

I thought they would look good in black and white because there is a lot of contrast.

Hopefully I have something pretty and interesting to blog about soon :)

Bailing out the Irish

I got this email from a friend a few days ago and it made me laugh so I'd thought I'd share. Enjoy!

It is a slow day in a damp little Irish town. The rain is beating  down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the town, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.

The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer.

The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the pub.

The publican slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit.

The prostitute then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note.

The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything.  At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the €100
note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money and leaves town.

No one produced anything.  No one earned anything.  However, the whole town is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the bailout package works

Crafty

Last year my mom made a rule.

Every year for Christmas everyone has to make something homemade for every person in the family.

I think homemade gifts are the best. It shows that the person really cares and put time into making something.

I love being crafty. I can't wait till I can have my own craft room one day. I feel limited working in my bedroom.

Here are some of my crafty creations...

I made my mom a tissue box cover. Her favorite color is yellow :)

I made Trevor a picture frame covered in tools, bolts, nuts, and even a chainsaw chain.
He is a hard working mechanic so it fits him well :)

I love to scrapbook and I have a lot of scrapbook supplies so I thought I'd change directions and make some Christmas cards!

I made this picture frame for my dad. It is covered in bullets.
Not real safe if there is ever a fire, but it still looks pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure I already posted pictures of this, but I got a few better ones and I thought it needed to be included in this post. A picture frame covered in my great-grandma's buttons.
I gave it to my grandma for Christmas with a picture of all her brothers and sisters.
11 total!

My mom made us these sweet pajamas!

My dad made my sister a gun rack

 and me a coffee table!
I figured I'm gonna need some furniture in the near future. This thing weighs a ton too!

I'm hoping that one day in the future when I have more time I can open up an online shop on Etsy.
I want to be able to given a portion of the money to orphans.

Any ideas for a shop name?
