Sunday Snapshot "Morning Light"

Just a few shots I wanted to share from our hunting excursion this past weekend.

The one great thing about waking up WAY before the sun, is that you get to see the sun rise.
Morning light is Amazing!

The moon was still high in the sky as the sun was rising.

Sunrise over the mountains.

Glorious Morning Light!

Sunday Snapshot "Deer Hunting"

This weekend we headed to the mountains to go deer hunting.
It was the opening weekend and a lot of other people had the same idea as us which made the hunting conditions difficult.

We woke up early early early, 4am early, Saturday morning, to get in place before the deer started wandering. We pretty much hiked straight up a mountain, at 10,000 ft elevation. My lungs were burning! I haven't had that kind of a workout in a long time. The hunting was great up on that mountain but the views sure were! We hiked about 8 miles Saturday. My legs are so sore!

We hiked up and down some steep terrain.

Gotta wear hunter orange to stay safe!

Due to the hot summer we have had, no fires were allowed.
When the sun went down, we went to bed, which means we went to bed at 7:30!

Friday night, Trevor woke up in the middle of the night and didn't know what time it was but he was wide awake so he assumed it was time to get up. He got up, got dressed, and headed out into the dark (keep in mind we were planning on getting up at 4:00 am to go hunting). He got in the truck to check the time, and realized it was only 11:30pm. We all laughed about it the next morning :)

We found the perfect little campsite right next to the river.
We threw a couple watermelons into the river to keep them ice cold.

Trevor didn't get a deer this weekend, but we still had a great time. We will probably end up going back in a few weeks to try our luck again!

Sunday Snapshot "Eagle Meadows"

Last weekend we packed up the Rock Crawlers and head to the mountains to camp and four-wheel.

We set up camp, cooked dinner, and enjoyed a nice fire.

Sunday we got the toys ready and headed out on the trail.

I love being in the mountains. So much beauty created by God.

Winching the jeep so it doesn't roll over.

Ruby!

My Husband :)

Nobody rolled and nobody broke down so it was a great weekend!
Monday we headed home dirty and in dire need of showers.

Sunday Snapshot "Rudyard"

Almost every summer when I was little we would go to a little town on the highline called Rudyard.

It was once a booming town.

Now there is a welcoming sign that reads "Rudyard, 596 nice people and 1 old sore head!, rip snorting and raring for business".

My great grandma raised her family in this town.

I have memories of...
riding my bike to the junk yard with my uncle to look for treasures,
first lemonade stand in front of the general store,
staying up late in grandma's kitchen eating cantaloupe with salt,
riding our bikes down every street in town.

Now when I go back to visit, I realize how much I miss this place.
Many of the buildings are now boarded up and run down.
Our family that once lived here has passed on.
The only thing left is memories.

I think the only thing open when we drove through was the museum pictured below.

We stopped and visited with the care takers.
We looked through the buildings that displayed years and years of history.
We found pictures of family members displayed in the old school house.

Main Street pictured below.

Sunday Snapshot "Ashley"

I have an amazing little sister and maid of honor.
I think my sister has the most beautiful eyes.
I miss my sister.

She threw an awesome bridal shower for me this weekend.

I wish we didn't live so far away.
I miss going to get coffee together and dancing crazy in the car.
I miss talking with her all the time.

Thank you Ashley for a wonderful weekend and an amazing bridal shower!

These were taken with my Nikon D90 and a 50mm 1.4 lens. It was really bright so I took the photos in the shade. I wish I had set my ISO higher because the original pictures came out kinda dark. I edited them with p*cmonkey.

Sunday Snapshot "Rubicon"

Trevor and I love camping, and we had this big camping trip planned for Memorial day weekend, the only problem was the weather forecast. I probably checked the weather 30 times the week before, and it was constantly changing, but not to anything good.

We ended up going camping in the snow, but that didn't stop us from having a great time!
The snow was actually really pretty. Big flakes came down all day Saturday.

Our first rock crawling trip of the year was on the Rubicon. The only way to get through the Rubicon is with trucks/jeeps that are modified to go over big rocks! Dents and scratches are a normal occurence on trips like these.

We had two vehicles in our group, four people, and one cold scared dog! (the last post was all about Ruby's first camping trip)

Here is a picture of the truck all loaded down. You can't tell but we had every inch of that truck packed with warm blankets and all of our camping supplies!

On Sunday the sun came out and most of the snow melted.

Ruby riding shotgun with mommy!

Dad cooking us some hotdogs for lunch

Some of these pictures were taken with my small digital camera and some of them were taken with my Nikon. I think its pretty easy to tell which ones were taken with which camera lol.
